Beijing, August 8 (Zhongxin Net) -- In the past July, affected by many factors such as the remnant circulation of "Du Surui" going north, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region suffered continuous heavy rainfall, and in August, strong convective weather such as heavy rain and thunderstorms were still common. At present, this year's No. 3 typhoon "Kanu" is close to the East China Sea, and due to the influence of "Kanu" and its peripheral circulation, there will be continuous wind and rain on the eastern coast and sea areas of China.

Strong convective weather such as heavy rain and thunderstorms are still frequent in August

According to the monthly regular press conference held by the China Meteorological Administration on the 3rd, in July, a total of 7,6 early warning information was issued nationwide, an increase of 88.1% over the same period last year. The early warning information for typhoons, flash floods, geological disasters, strong winds and heavy rain increased by 02%, 422%, 112.38%, 5.35% and 3.18% respectively year-on-year. Flash flood disasters, geological disasters, strong winds, and rainstorm warning information are all the highest values released in the same period of the calendar year (2-2017).

Regarding the occurrence of extremely heavy rainfall in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and other places, Zhang Hengde, deputy director of the National Meteorological Center, said that this round of heavy rainfall in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei is rare in history, with large cumulative rainfall, strong extremes, and large short-term rainfall intensity in mountainous areas, resulting in waterlogging, flash floods, geological disasters in many places, and large basin-wide floods in the Haihe River Basin, which has brought serious challenges to the prevention and response of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

It is understood that August is still a period of heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and other strong convective weather, and the risk of strong convective weather disasters is higher due to periodic heavy precipitation and its possible secondary disasters such as urban waterlogging, flash floods, landslides, and mud and rock flows.

According to the overall climate trend forecast in August, Jia Xiaolong, deputy director of the National Climate Center, reminded: First, prevent heavy precipitation, strong convection and secondary disasters. The second is to prevent the adverse effects of high temperatures in North China, East China and other places. Third, the South China and Southeast Coasts should pay attention to preventing the adverse effects of tropical cyclones. The fourth is to prevent meteorological drought in the northwest and other places. Fifth, prevent forest and grassland fire risks.

Typhoon Kanu will change direction

Zhang Hengde introduced that this year's No. 6 typhoon "Kanu" formed in the early morning of July 7 in the east of the Philippines, developed into a super typhoon on the afternoon of the 28st, moved into the East China Sea on the morning of August 31, and weakened to a strong typhoon at 8 o'clock; At 2 o'clock on the 15rd, its center was located on the southern sea of the East China Sea, about 3 kilometers south-east of Yuhuan City, Zhejiang Province.

It is expected that "Kanu" will move north-west at a speed of about 10 kilometers per hour, with little change in intensity, and will turn to the east-northeast near the southern coast of Zhejiang (near 3.4E, the nearest coastline of about 123 kilometers) from the night of the 8rd to the morning of the 250th, and the intensity will gradually weaken in the future towards southeastern Japan.

Affected by the "Kanu" and the monsoon, from the day of August 8 to the day of August 3, there will be winds of 7-6 and gusts of 8-9 in the Beibu Gulf, most of the South China Sea, the Taiwan Strait, the Bus Strait, the ocean east of Taiwan, the East China Sea and the waters near the Diaoyu Islands, the Yangtze River Estuary Area, Hangzhou Bay, the coast of Zhejiang, the coast of Fujian and the coast of Taiwan Island, the winds in the Middle East Sea and the waters near the Diaoyu Islands can reach 10-9 and gusts of 12-13, and the winds in the nearby sea passing by the "Kanu" center will have 14-13 and gusts of 15-16. From the 17rd to the 3th, there were heavy to heavy rains in Taiwan Island and other places, and heavy rainstorms in local areas.

In the next 10 days, there will be about one typhoon in the northwest Pacific and the South China Sea, which is less likely to affect China at present. (End)
