A space venture company aiming to develop a lunar rover in collaboration with companies in Tottori Prefecture unveiled a running test of a prototype rover at the demonstration experiment base facility in the Tottori Sand Dunes on March 3.

The running test was released by the space venture company "Tasuku" in Suginami Ward, Tokyo.

This company is collaborating with companies in Tottori Prefecture to develop a lunar rover from Tottori.

On the 3rd, at the base facility for the demonstration experiment of the lunar rover built by the prefecture in the Tottori Sand Dunes, a driving experiment using a four-wheeled rover with a length and width of about 50 centimeters equipped with a small camera produced as a prototype model was unveiled.

Since the rover is operated from the earth in the actual lunar exploration, the experiment was operated remotely from an accommodation facility about 4 kilometers away named "control room".

In addition, in order to confirm whether it was easy to operate in the experiment, people from another company who were not involved in the development performed the actual operation, and while watching the images taken by the camera, they avoided obstacles and holes to find a ball with a diameter of about 30 centimeters.

Daisuke Kotomo, president of Tasuku, a space venture company that conducted the experiment, said, "The response was more successful than I had imagined, and since the completion of the demonstration base and the gathering of people will lead to innovation, we hope to revitalize the space industry in Tottori through the running experiment of the lunar rover."
