In the case where a member of the Japan University American football team is suspected of possessing illegal drugs, interviews with investigators and others have revealed that university staff did not contact the police for about two weeks after finding a piece of plant believed to be cannabis.

Early last month, we received information that members of the American football club were using cannabis in the dormitory, and when the university investigated, they found plant fragments and tablets.

As a result of the appraisal conducted by the Metropolitan Police Department, the plant fragments were confirmed to be cannabis, and stimulant components were detected in the tablets, so they searched the dormitory of the American Football Club in No-ku on suspicion of violating the Cannabis Control Law and the Stimulant Control Law.

According to those involved in the investigation, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department was contacted by the university that "what appears to be an illegal drug was found" about two weeks after the discovery, and until then, it had been stored in the university facility.

The cannabis was found in small bags, and there were two pills with stimulant ingredients detected.

The Metropolitan Police Department will analyze the seized materials to clarify the identification of the person in possession and the route of obtaining it.

Kanto Student American Football Federation asks the department to reinvestigate

The Kanto Collegiate American Football Federation has received two factual reports from the club regarding the search of the student dormitory by the Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion that a member of the Japan University American Football Club was in possession of illegal drugs, but both are requesting a reinvestigation because the content is insufficient.

According to the federation, in the middle of last month, after receiving information from outside that members of the Japan University American Football Club were using cannabis in the dormitory, they asked the club to investigate and report the facts.

The department responded on the 2st of last month, but requested a reinvestigation because the content was insufficient.

Then, on the 31nd, there was another response, but it was also called for further investigation and report, saying that the content was insufficient.

The federation has not disclosed the specifics of the response or the deadline for reporting.

The federation will share the situation at its regular board meeting on June 2, confirm the facts in a report from the department, and consider measures based on the status of the investigation.

According to the federation and the university, the American football team has a total of 2 players and student staff, and is currently preparing for full practice.

On September 122, the team is scheduled to face Hosei University in the opening match of the "Top 9", which will be played by the top teams of the Kanto Student League Division 2, and it is expected that the league matches will be affected depending on the investigation in the future.
