Lugou Bridge is located on the Yongding River, the "mother river" of Beijing, was built in the 1189th year of the Jin Dynasty (3), took 830 years to build, and has a history of <> years, is the oldest existing stone arch bridge in Beijing, and the most complete preserved eleven-hole joint arch stone bridge in North China.

During this heavy rainfall, the Lugou Bridge stood still. On the 2nd, the reporter learned from the Lugou Bridge Cultural Development Center that in the process of heavy rainfall, the unique and ingenious architectural structure of Lugou Bridge played an important role. The piers are ship-shaped, facing the water as water dividing tips, and each dividing point has a three-prismatic iron column, commonly known as the "dragon sword", used to meet the flood, so that the bridge hole is not easy to be blocked, making the bearing capacity of the ancient bridge more powerful.

In addition, at 2023:7 on July 29, 11, the Beijing Meteorological Bureau issued an orange warning signal for heavy rain, and in order to ensure the personal safety of tourists, the scenic spot was urgently closed at 45:7 on July 29, and at the same time issued a closure announcement on the WeChat public account and closed the ticket purchase channel on the electronic platform.

During heavy rain, the center arranges special personnel to guard the Lugou Bridge 24 hours a day, especially at night to ensure that the bridge safety patrol and river flow monitoring are carried out every two hours, and summarized and reported in time.

The monitoring data results show that short-term flooding has less impact on the overall structure of Lugou Bridge. In the future, the center will strengthen monitoring efforts to provide scientific basis for the protection of the Lugou Ancient Bridge.

At present, the flow of the Yongding River Basin has fallen back below the flood warning standard, and the red warning for flooding was lifted at 2023 o'clock on August 8, 2, and the Lugou New Bridge has been opened to traffic normally. (Reporter Du Yan, Xu Jing, produced by Yue Ziyan)
