In response to the government debating the exemption from the upper limit on overtime work that begins in the construction industry over the delay in preparations for the construction of the pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, the defense team working on the issue of death from overwork issued a statement of protest on the 3rd, saying that it endangers the lives and bodies of workers.

Regarding the overseas pavilions for the Osaka-Kansai Expo to be held next year, it has been pointed out that preparations for construction have been delayed, and the government is debating whether to exempt the upper limit on overtime work that will begin in the construction industry from April next year.

In response, the defense team working on the issue of death from overwork issued a statement on March 4, pointing out that the structure is the same as when the site supervisor of the construction work of the National Stadium, which was under pressure due to the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, worked more than 3 hours of overtime per month and committed suicide from overwork.

In addition, we issued a statement of protest, saying that exempting overtime work from the upper limit would allow the endangerment of the life and body of workers.

Furthermore, they protested, "If the World Expo, which has the theme of 'Designing a Future Society for Our Lives,' cannot be held without exemption from the regulations, we have no choice but to cancel it."

The defense team also mailed a written opinion to the association that prepares and operates the Osaka-Kansai Expo, asking for a retraction.
