A former judicial officer of the prison in the Swabian town of Kaisheim has been found guilty of sexual abuse of prisoners and bribery. The Augsburg District Court imposed one year and eight months in prison, which was suspended.

The 30-year-old had admitted in court that she had a love affair with an inmate and had sex with him in a prison office. She also admitted to smuggling ten mobile phones into the correctional facility for the man. The cell phones were resold to other prisoners.

Parents of the detainee also involved in smuggling

Along with the former prison officer, who has since resigned and retired from the civil service, the 34-year-old prisoner and his parents were also convicted of bribery or aiding and abetting. The prisoner had arranged the smuggling of the mobile phones, his parents had procured the devices and processed the money payments.

The 34-year-old has now received another prison sentence of two years and one month due to his numerous previous convictions. His mother received eleven months, also on probation, and his stepfather received a fine. All four defendants had made confessions.

Even if, according to the conviction of all sides, there was a real love affair between the prison officer and the prisoner, from which the smuggling developed, the woman remained a conviction for abuse. She had admitted to having sex with the inmate at least once in a prison office, which is punishable as abuse under the law for officials.
