• How Queen Letizia has changed, from wearing only Varela to opening up to Spanish and even Ukrainian design so that her clothes say much more about her
  • This is how Queen Letizia has changed between Leonor's baptism and Sofia's confirmation: from letizios to espadrilles, from Felipe Varela to repeating blouses
  • What has Queen Letizia done to her hair? The change, discreet and easy, more practical for the summer

A few days before landing in Mallorca, where King Felipe VI can already be seen in official acts on Thursday and Queen Letizia on Sunday, at the closing of the Atlàntida Film Fest film festival, an appointment already almost obligatory for her, the Kings together have inaugurated the Gallery of the Royal Collections in Madrid.

Just a week ago Queen Letizia 'threw the rest' with her look at the ABC journalism awards Mariano de Cavia, Luca de Tena and Mingote, as always when it is something related to her previous profession. She then premiered a set of two pieces of silk – one of the great trends of the season – in a very bright and summery blue, with the midi length skirt and several details that enhanced it, such as a vertical ruffle from the waist at the end, which gave it a special air when walking. The brand? Spanish, Maksu for more signs, which is not the first one she keeps in her closet.

The choice was enhanced by sandals of very high heel and a centimeter of platform, far from those sensible heeled shoes that he wears lately for his foot ailment, a neuroma of Morton. A shoe that he already wore on another occasion and that are from the luxury firm Jimmy Choo.

Queen Letizia's look at the Royal Collections Gallery

And if a week ago Queen Letizia threw the rest, today she has not been left behind. Her stylistic choice has been surprising, especially for the neckline of the chosen design.

The monarch has come down from the blue color of a few days ago and has opted for whites, blacks and grays in a midi dress of evasé skirt that is not at all rare in her. The pattern of the model is made up of floral motifs that look like a watercolor, because of the diluted 'brushstroke'. As a detail, a bow at the waist that frames her waist, another of the style gestures that characterize the Queen.

Nor has the brand chosen by the Queen been surprising. It is a dress by Carolina Herrera, it seems to be from a past collection. The elegance of the firm is regularly used by the monarch, and always makes it triumph, as when she chose a bright pink suit from the ensign to impact the coronation of Carlos III last May, a look that made her rain praise from the international press.

Queen Letizia's dress with red carpet surprise

Although nothing is strange or alien to the Queen in the chosen look, the dress does present a touch of modernity that drinks directly from catwalks and red carpets. It is the neckline that, in total black, contrasts with the print of the dress in a trompe l'oeil with which it could seem that Her Majesty joins the favorite trend of celebrities to show lingerie.

But nothing is further from reality, it is only the effect sought with the original design of the neckline of the Carolina Herrera model. Saving the distances, the dress and the effect that accompanies it recall the look chosen by Scarlett Johansson on the last red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival.

A very different look from July 25, 2023...

Last year, on this day, the Kings and their daughters went to Santiago de Compostela to celebrate the day, presiding over the National Offering to the Apostle. Then, the three 'royals' starred in a very colorful fashion moment. The Queen chose a long midi dress with a flowing skirt and closed collar in a flattering orange tone that highlighted her tan.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia dressed, as usual, very differently. The first chose a dress very similar to her mother's, in a daring pairing of red and pink by Cayro Woman. The Infanta Sofia instead wore blue, with a much shorter satin dress, by Polin et Moi.
