A 52-year-old driver was killed in a collision with an ambulance near Hemme (Schleswig-Holstein). Both occupants of the emergency car were seriously injured, as the police announced early on Monday. The two vehicles had collided head-on on the federal highway 3 on Monday night, while the ambulance was in use.

According to the information, the 52-year-old had already been noticed an hour earlier in Itzehoe because he rammed his car into another car and simply continued his journey. A little later, witnesses reported him to the police on the highway 23 in the northbound direction, as his driving style was suspicious. Here he drove into the center barrier and broke down with his car. When the emergency services reached him, the man drove away again. It was only after the accident with the ambulance that he came to a standstill.
