Several days after a handbag robbery in Uelzen, the victim died. As the police in Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, announced on Monday, the 46-year-old succumbed to serious injuries in a hospital that she sustained in a fall provoked by the attack.

Video footage shows how the alleged perpetrator rides around on a bicycle in the vicinity of a hardware store and then goes into the shadows in a waiting position. When the 46-year-old comes by, he follows her and snatches her handbag. The woman falls, the perpetrator flees with his mountain bike. The robbery occurred around 13:45 p.m. last Wednesday.

Mid-30s, slim, baseball cap wearer

According to the police, the perpetrator is still on the run. The investigators called on possible witnesses to report to the Uelzen police.

The perpetrator is said to have worn a black tracksuit and a conspicuous baseball cap with the inscription "FBI". According to police, he is about 35 years old and of slim build. At the time of the crime, he was wearing sunglasses.

An autopsy of the body is planned for tomorrow, Tuesday, in consultation with the public prosecutor's office in Lüneburg.
