Tributes have multiplied after the announcement of the death of Jane Birkin, who died this Sunday, July 16 at the age of 76, especially in the village of Lannilis where the artist liked to relax. Jean-François Tréguer, the mayor, explains to the microphone of Europe 1 the pain of this goodbye between the artist and his inhabitants.

His voice is already missing. Jane Birkin passed away on Sunday and hearts are still struggling to repair themselves, especially in the small Breton village of Lannilis, in Finistère. Living for thirty years in this town of more than 5,400 souls, the singer cherished this place alone, with her friends, but also with her family. The first mayor, Jean-François Tréguer, explains to the microphone of Europe 1, the tear that his village knows since the death of Jane Birkin.

Simple, natural and discreet

"She was very attached and liked Lannilis very much." It is still with great emotion that Jean-François Tréguer remembers his famous resident. Defined as simple, natural and discreet, Jane Birkin wanted to live normally in the village. "She had her habits in local shops such as the bakery or the terrace of a café," says the mayor.
