In the Prinzenbad in Berlin-Kreuzberg, a man has been injured in an altercation.

As a police spokeswoman said on Monday, two young people had argued early Sunday evening. The man intervened to separate the two parties and was injured in the head and upper body. He was taken to the hospital and has since been discharged.

According to police, one suspect was arrested, another identified. A third party was able to flee undetected.

The Berlin »Tagesspiegel« reported that the victim had been »knocked out«. Eight police vehicles and an ambulance from the Berlin fire brigade were deployed on site. According to the police spokesman, the bathing operation was not restricted by the incident.

After repeated violence, entry to Berlin's outdoor swimming pools has only been possible with an ID since last Saturday. In addition to an identity card, visitors can also show their driver's license or a student ID card in many places. According to dpa reporters, the photo ID was not strictly checked at the entrance.

Despite the debates about violent incidents in swimming pools, the rush to Berlin's outdoor pools at the weekend was unabated. At temperatures above 30 degrees, longer queues formed in front of the Prinzenbad or in front of the summer pool at the Insulaner in Steglitz. In Steglitz, employees organized the bathers via megaphone and informed them about the need to show a photo ID. A police station stood in front of the Prinzenbad and watched the hustle and bustle. In order to avoid overcrowded pools, admission stops should be imposed much earlier than before and the security staff should be increased.
