Regarding the appraisal of land requested by Osaka City to a contractor to determine the rent of the site for the IR=integrated resort facility including the casino, the city announced that it had found an email with the contractor that had previously been explained as "not remaining" at a council committee, and apologized for the improper management of official documents.

Four years ago, Osaka City commissioned four contractors to conduct land appraisals to determine the rent of IR sites on the condition that they would not consider the IR project being conducted.

Regarding the e-mails related to the exchange at that time, the city explained at a council committee that "the retention period has passed and there are no more e-mails left", but the Osaka Port Bureau, which is in charge, held a press conference on the 4rd and announced that the e-mails were found in the external hard disk.

There were a total of 4 e-mails, including correspondence with contractors regarding the conditions of appraisal, and the city said that as a result of checking the contents, it could not confirm any communication such as issuing unfair instructions to the contractor.

However, the e-mail found this time was that the staff in charge had deleted most of the original data from the server after receiving a Freedom of Information request in November last year, and the Osaka Port Bureau apologized for "extremely inappropriate management of official documents" and will release the contents of the e-mail as soon as it is ready.

Osaka Mayor Yokoyama: "There is no confusion about the explanation so far"

Osaka Mayor Yokoyama told reporters, "The discovery of the e-mail does not cause any confusion in the explanation so far, and we would like to continue discussions with the IR operator under appropriate handling."

On the other hand, he stated that "it is clear that we were not able to manage official documents," and indicated that he would consider disposing of them after confirming with the relevant parties.
