Peruvian-Spanish novelist Mario Vargas Llos, 87, has been hospitalized for covid-19 since last Saturday, marking the second time the writer has been admitted for this disease, his children said Monday in a Twitter message.

The brief statement signed by Álvaro, Gonzalo and Morgana Vargas Llosa confirmed that the Nobel Prize for literature (2010) "has been hospitalized since Saturday after being diagnosed with covid-19", although they do not specify the city in which he is, and assured that they make it public "in view of the interest of the media for the state of health" of the writer.

The veteran writer was in Peru a few weeks ago attending private activities, occasion in which he was accompanied by his children and his ex-wife Patricia Llosa. However, Vargas Llosa usually resides in Madrid, where he spends long periods.
