August 17 marks the 80th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Gubenko, People's Artist of the RSFSR. He made his film debut, starring in the cult film by Marlen Khutsiev "Zastava Ilyich". Subsequently, the actor appeared in the films of Sergei Bondarchuk, Gleb Panfilov, Andrei Konchalovsky. As a director, Gubenko has released six full-length films, including the film "Wounded", which took part in the main program of the Cannes Film Festival. The artist devoted many years to the Taganka Theater, and in the 1990s he headed the "Commonwealth of Taganka Actors" theater. From November 1989 to August 1991, Gubenko served as the Minister of Culture of the USSR.
