Nike, a clothing and sporting goods firm, is under pressure to call one of its leading designs of lightweight sports shoes after it introduced a broad online consumer who said the bottom shoe was a slogan that offends Islamic beliefs.

The consumer asked the company to call "these abusive blasphemous shoes and all products with the same logo and stop selling them around the world immediately."

According to Bloomberg today, the company responded in a statement that the logo was designed to represent Air Max, and that "understanding any other meaning is unintentional."

"We respect all religions, and take such concerns seriously," the company said.
