Armando Vieja Gil, 64, founder and guitarist of the Potletta de Jerez rock band, committed suicide on Friday after publishing a suicidal letter on Twitter saying he was accused of sexually assaulting a minor in a false and unknown way.
The authorities confirmed that Vega Gil had been found dead at his home in Mexico City.
The musician said he had been accused of using Hattag's name on Twitter to harass and assault a woman when she was 13 years old.
"I will say unequivocally that this accusation is false, let me make it clear that my death is not motivated by guilt, but on the contrary it is a major declaration of my innocence, I just wanted to correct the path my son will take in the future."
"Do not blame anyone for my death. This suicide is conscious, voluntary, free and personal."
