It is reported by the press service of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia.
“We offer condolences to the families and friends of Vadim Vasilyevich,” the statement said.
The association did not indicate any details of the death of Gems.
As noted in the Union, the deceased was director of such films as "Staru ha-rmsa" and "Carousel". During his career, he also played 20 film roles.
Earlier, Channel Five reported that the actor Alexander Vasilyev died in St. Petersburg at the age of 61.
