The severe cold has killed some 30 children in two months, among civilians who have fled the last bastions of the Daqash organization in eastern Syria, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The organization expressed its "deep concern" over the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Hool refugee camp, which is located northeast of Syria, where civilians have been hiding for months to fight against the Da'ash organization.

"At least 29 children and infants have died in the last eight weeks, especially because of the temperature of their bodies as they head to the camp or shortly after arrival," the WHO said in a statement.

The statement pointed out that within two months "about 23 thousand people, mostly women and children fleeing from hostilities in the province of Deir al-Zour" to the camp.

"Many displaced people walked or rode in trucks open for several days and nights in harsh winter weather," the World Health Organization said.

"In less than two months, the population has tripled, from 10,000 to about 33,000," the statement said.
