The next "Batman" movie is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2021. This was announced by the studio Warner Bros., according to US media reports on Wednesday. Unlike initially suspected, Ben Affleck will evidently not slip into the role of superhero again.

In the meantime, he was even as a director for the next part in conversation, but the 45-year-old declined. Back in 2017, Warner named Matt Reeves ("Planet of the Apes") as the new "Batman" director. Back then, Affleck, who played the superhero in bat costume in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", "Suicide Squad" and "Justice League", was at least still a main actor on board.

But Reeves is now looking for a new, younger "Dark Knight" actor, as the cinema portal "Deadline.com" reported. Affleck responded to the message on Twitter and wrote that he was looking forward to "The Batman" and the new vision of Reeves.

Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life. https://t.co/GNgyJroMIO

In addition, the Hollywood studio announced the continuation of the anti-hero film "Suicide Squad" for August 2021. "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn writes the script for this.
