The regulator notes that the reduction in external debt by 14.9% is due to a decrease in the volume of Russian sovereign securities available to non-residents, including as a result of their planned repayment.

However, the key factor in reducing external debt, according to the regulator, was the reduction in obligations of other sectors on attracted loans, including within the framework of direct investment relations.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a statement according to which the country's external debt had been reduced by about a third.
