Public employees will receive the additional salary increase of 0.5% for this year agreed with the Ministry of Finance and which was linked to the evolution of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) of 2022 and the HICP advanced of September 2023.

After publishing this Thursday the advance inflation figures for the month of September, with an annual rate of variation of the HICP of 3.2%, the activation of one of the additional increases contemplated in the wage agreement for the public sector is confirmed.

This agreement stated that the fixed increase of 2.5% already applied this year would be added to a variable increase of 0.5% with effect from January if the sum of the HICP of 2022, which was 5.5% in December, and the advance HICP of September 2023, that 3.2%, was greater than 6%.

Another variable increase of 0.5% is expected for this year if GDP grows by 2.1% for the year as a whole.

The CCOO and UGT unions had already requested a meeting with the Ministry of Finance and Public Function a couple of weeks ago to address this salary increase that they expected to collect in the October payroll.
