After departing from Sakata Port in Yamagata Prefecture, medium-sized squid fishing boats that fish for squid in the Japan Sea returned to the port and landed the squid. According to the fishing cooperative, the catch is lower than last year, and it is expected to be traded at a higher price than last year.

In Sakata City, a sailing ceremony is held every June for medium-sized squid fishing fleets that fish for squid in the Japan Sea, and it has become a summer tradition.

Of these, the 28th Wakashio Maru returned to Sakata Port on the 5100th to land and refuel the fish, and employees of the Yamagata Prefectural Fisheries Cooperative Association and others landed squid one after another.

According to the fisheries cooperative, about 1,1 cases of squid were landed, which is only about half of the same time last year, and is expected to be traded at a higher price than last year, from 1,4000 yen to 29,12 yen per case.

In order to maintain freshness, this squid is quick-frozen in the ship's freezing equipment and is used for processed products such as sashimi and salt.

Chief Fisheries Chief Ken Honma said, "Compared to previous years, the amount of fish landed is small, but I hope you will eat the delicious squid that we have worked so hard to catch."
