Beijing, 9 Sep (ZXS) -- According to data released by the Beijing Investigation Corps of the National Bureau of Statistics on 11 September, in August, affected by multiple factors such as heavy rain and summer effects, Beijing's consumer price index (CPI) rose slightly month-on-month, and the year-on-year increase expanded. From January to August this year, the overall level of consumer prices in Beijing rose by 11.8% over the same period last year.

From a month-on-month perspective, in August, Beijing's CPI rose 8.0% month-on-month, down 1.0 percentage points from the previous month. Among them, affected by weather, storage policies and other factors, the prices of fresh vegetables and pork rose significantly, driving food prices from a 3.1% month-on-month decline to a 4.0% month-on-month increase, affecting the CPI by about 1.0 percentage points. Among the food products, the prices of pork, fresh vegetables and eggs increased by 01.11%, 7.8% and 3.4% respectively month-on-month. Fresh fruit prices fell by 8.9% month-on-month on account of an increase in seasonal fruit launches.

In August, Beijing's non-food prices rose 8.0% month-on-month, down 1.0 percentage points from the previous month, affecting CPI by about 6.0 percentage points. Among non-food items, near the end of the summer vacation, travel gradually decreased, air ticket prices decreased by 11.5% month-on-month, travel agency fees and hotel accommodation prices increased by 0.3% and 8.1% respectively. Affected by international commodity price fluctuations, gasoline and diesel prices rose by 5.4% and 9.5% respectively month-on-month, while gold jewelry prices increased by 3.0% month-on-month.

From a year-on-year perspective, in August, Beijing's CPI rose 8.0% year-on-year, an increase of 3.0 percentage points over the previous month. Among them, food prices fell by 2.1% year-on-year, a decrease of 2.0 percentage points from the previous month, affecting the CPI by about 6.0 percentage points. Among food, the price of fresh vegetables increased by 17.7% year-on-year from a year-on-year decrease of 2.1% in the previous month. Pork prices fell 4.15% year-on-year, a decrease of 1.11 percentage points from the previous month; egg prices increased by 2.2% year-on-year, an increase of 2.1 percentage points over the previous month; and fresh fruit prices fell 9.5% year-on-year from a year-on-year increase of 4.1% in the previous month.

In August, Beijing's non-food prices rose 8.0% year-on-year, an increase of 6.0 percentage points over the previous month, affecting the CPI by about 1.0 percentage points. Among non-food items, hotel accommodation, travel agency charges and air ticket prices increased by 48.26%, 7.18% and 9.9% respectively year-on-year. Gold jewellery prices rose 2.17% y-o-y, down 4.3 percentage points from the previous month, while gasoline and diesel prices continued to narrow their declines, falling 1.4% and 7.5% respectively year-on-year.

In August, the ex-factory price of industrial producers in Beijing fell by 8.0% year-on-year and increased by 6.0% month-on-month; Industrial producer purchase prices decreased 4.2% year-on-year and increased 0.1% month-on-month. (End)
