For her second final in Auckland Julia Görges had to work harder than initially suspected. The German dominated the first set, then forced Viktoria Kuzmova in extra time.

Julia Görges has reached the final of the tennis tournament in New Zealand's Auckland for the second time in a row. The defending champion prevailed after 1:28 hours with 6: 1, 7: 6 (8: 6) against Viktoria Kuzmova from Slovakia.

After a superior led first set with two breaks Görges had more problems in the second round. Only at the third match point in the tiebreak Kuzmova returned the second serve of Görges into the net.

In the final on Sunday, the Wimbledon semi-finalist meets 18-year-old Bianca Vanessa Andreescu. The Canadian defeated Su-Wei Hsieh of Taiwan 6: 3, 6: 3. For Andreescu it's the first WTA finale of her career.

The 30-year-old Görges is in second place in Auckland. The preparatory tournament for the Australian Open, which begins on January 14, is endowed with $ 250,000. Last year, Görges had beaten in the final of the world ranking third Caroline Wozniacki.
