According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, after carrying out on-site inspections starting in late January this year regarding fraud in exhaust gas performance tests, a detailed investigation revealed that the engine control programs were rewritten during exhaust gas tests on these engines. Furthermore, it was discovered that the engines for construction machinery did not meet the exhaust gas performance standards required by the government.
For this reason, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism canceled the type designation required for mass production of these three types of engines on the 5th, based on the Road Transport Vehicle Law.
Toyota Industries indicated its intention to accept the cancellation policy at a hearing last week.
