The Stendal regional court sentenced the Halle attacker to a seven-year prison sentence for taking hostages in Burg prison.

Because of the racist and anti-Semitic attack in Halle an der Saale, Stephan Balliet was sentenced to life imprisonment followed by preventive detention in 2020.

For security reasons, the 1st Large Criminal Chamber of the Stendal Regional Court did not hear the case in the local court, but in Magdeburg.
