Highlights: RT reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are forcing residents of Avdiivka to leave the city. The Russian military has been conducting operations in the area since April. The offensive is aimed at stopping the flow of gas into the city from the east. The operation is expected to last until the end of the month, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. It is not known how long it will take for the residents to return to their homes, which have been destroyed by the fighting. The conflict in eastern Ukraine has claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people.

A resident of liberated Avdiivka told RT how the Ukrainian Armed Forces forced people to leave the city.

According to RT’s interlocutor, many residents of Avdeevka did not want to leave, but Ukrainian troops made it almost impossible to stay in the city.

“They (APU -

She added that her family had been waiting for two years for the Russian Armed Forces to oust Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka.

“When they told us that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were leaving, we couldn’t believe it,” the woman noted.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense stated that Russian troops liberated the village of Lastochkino in the Avdeevsky direction.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that the Russian military continues offensive operations after the capture of Avdievka.
