The accident occurred this Wednesday, but not many details have been released.

Victoria State Police said Thursday it would not comment on the people or incidents in the case for safety reasons.

Archer has been a member of the

Nitro Circus team

for over a decade.

The group confirmed his death in a post on Instagram.

"Jayo was the epitome of passion, hard work and determination," said Nitro Circus.

"He did everything possible on a dirt bike to heights never seen before. He was a positive influence on those around him. And above all, he was a great human being and a friend to all. We love you, friend "Travel in peace."

Media in Australia reported that Archer, a two-time

X Games

medalist , planned to attempt the first quadruple backflip later in the year.

"We are very saddened by the death of Jayo Archer and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his fiancée,"

Scott Guglielmino

, interim head of X Games operations, said in a statement to ESPN.

"One of the most committed and charismatic drivers, Jayo will be missed by the X Games family."

One of only three to perform the triple backflip in motocross, Archer became the first to perform the trick in competition in November 2022, during the Nitro World Games in Brisbane, Australia.
