The Expert Council of the Circle of Good Foundation has expanded the list of chronic diseases

Highlights: The Circle of Good Foundation has expanded the list of chronic diseases. Graft-versus-host reaction (GVHD) and Leber optic nerve atrophy (LONA) have been added. The total number of nosologies for which the organization now provides assistance to children has increased to 91. Since 2021, the fund has already provided assistance to more than 24 thousand children with serious and rare diseases, allocating 220 billion rubles for these purposes. It is reported that the foundation's expert council agreed on a partial change in the categories of children who receive medications for the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

As RT learned, the Circle of Good expert council included Graft-versus-host reaction (GVHD) and Leber optic nerve atrophy (LONA) in the list of severe, life-threatening and chronic diseases.


Thus, as the foundation reported, the total number of nosologies for which the organization now provides assistance to children has increased to 91.

GVHD is an immune-mediated disease that occurs after 100 days of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). It often affects several organs, which significantly reduces the quality of life and leads to disability.

NOPD is an inherited mitochondrial disease characterized by bilateral vision loss and optic nerve atrophy. It can appear at any age, most often from 14 to 35 years.

Since 2021, the fund has already provided assistance to more than 24 thousand children with serious and rare diseases, allocating 220 billion rubles for these purposes.

In addition, it is reported that the foundation's expert council agreed on a partial change in the categories of children who receive medications for the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The Circle of Good Foundation was created by Presidential Decree No. 16 of January 5, 2021 to support children with severe life-threatening and chronic diseases, including rare (orphan) diseases.

Earlier it became known that 99 children from Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug received help from the Circle of Good Foundation.
