Pirmasens: Children tortured with whips – men sentenced to prison

They celebrated their actions as “days of pain”: two men are said to have repeatedly abused two children. A verdict has now been pronounced in the trial against the two defendants.

In the trial of the mistreatment of two children with the acquiescence of the mother, the two defendants were each sentenced to four years in prison before the lay judges' court in Pirmasens. The verdicts are legally binding, as a spokeswoman for the district court in Pirmasens announced on Tuesday. According to the court, one of the convicts is the mother's former partner. The other convict is therefore his neighbor.

According to the court, the men mistreated the two children between May 7, 2022 and May 7, 2023. They repeatedly tortured them, including with electric shocks or beat them with whips. One of the children was shot in the knee with a shotgun. According to the court, the convicts celebrated the extreme abuse as “days of pain.”

According to the court, the two victims were eight and nine years old respectively at the time. According to the public prosecutor's office, the mother was working and left the girl and boy in the care of the defendant. She is said to have known about the crime without doing anything about it.
