Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad discussed the escalation of the situation in the Middle East region during a meeting in Moscow.

“Particular attention was paid to the ongoing escalation of the situation in the Middle East,” the statement said.

It is noted that the foreign ministers of the two countries pointed to the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to resolve the humanitarian problems of the local population.

In addition, Lavrov and Miqdad emphasized the inadmissibility of provocative actions leading to the expansion of escalation to other countries in the region, in particular Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
