Retired British Colonel Richard Kemp said that Western countries doubt that they will face a threat in the event of a Russian victory in the Ukrainian conflict.

He expressed this opinion in an article for The Telegraph.

As Kemp noted, Western countries are trying to promote the rhetoric that Ukrainians are fighting not only for their country, but also for the whole of Europe, which itself is threatened in the event of Moscow's success in the Ukrainian conflict.

"There is no indication that the U.S. president or Western European leaders really believe this," the publication said.

Kemp added that if the West really believed in threats from Russia, it would have long ago supplied Kyiv with a large number of necessary weapons.
