The fact that people drink schnapps and mulled wine rarely raises their eyebrows at Christmas celebrations. Or? According to a new survey, more and more people think it is unnecessary.

Christmas is one of our most traditional holidays, and that includes drinking a lot of alcohol. But the significance of this has diminished, according to a new survey conducted by Novus on behalf of the organization IQ.

"Two out of three people think it's quite unnecessary to drink alcohol at Christmas. So if you think you drink too much, say so, you're probably not alone," says Mojtaba Ghodsi, CEO of the IQ Initiative.

Stockholm and Halland at the top

Halland also drinks the second most in the country, with only Stockholm having a higher average intake per person. 4.7 litres of pure alcohol per person per year on average.

"Just because people think it's less important to have alcohol doesn't mean that it still causes problems," says Mojtaba Ghodsi.
