"The Security Council has agreed to continue discussions today so that it has more time for diplomacy. The chairmanship will schedule a vote for tomorrow morning," TASS quoted him as saying.

Earlier, John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, said that the United States insists that the UN Security Council resolution on the situation in the Gaza Strip include a condemnation of Hamas' actions.

Earlier, Chilean President Gabriel Boric called for reform of the United Nations after the United States vetoed a cease-fire resolution in the Gaza Strip.
