Since the collapse of the last ceasefire in early December, the war between Israel and Hamas has entered a more intense phase. Ground fighting that was previously limited to northern Gaza has spread to the entire area.

In Khan Younis in southern Gaza, residents testify to both bombing and firefights. Amr Cheikh-Deeb, who lives in the city, is looking for bodies among the houses that collapsed.

"Why did they bomb? What is the reason? We managed to get rid of some bodies, but where are the rest? Did they flee Gaza to die here?" he says.
