A new quay in the Port of Skellefteå will be built and completed in 2027. The decision was made during an extraordinary municipal council meeting on Tuesday. "We have seen that an expansion of the Port of Skellefteå is a prerequisite for the business community," says municipal commissioner Evelina Fahlesson (S).
The decision means that the project will be financed with SEK 1.3 billion through the municipality's group of companies and approximately SEK 100 million granted by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. Alliance critical of the calculation
All parties in the municipal council supported the decision, but the Moderates, the Centre Party, the Christian Democrats and the Liberals were critical of the basis for the decision.
"We are concerned that the basis for the decision was deficient when it comes to customer base, financing and actual cost. We also directed criticism to the economic calculation, which is simplified, writes opposition councillor Andreas Löwenhöök (M) in a press release.
