Nationally, there are an average of between 4 and 5 referendums per year, and the number has remained fairly stable in the 2000s.
The votes often concern changes/constructions/locations of municipal activities such as schools and nursing homes.
But it is also common to hold referendums on wind power establishments in the municipality and proposed municipal mergers/splits.
