Sporting got off to a dream start in the summit clash with Porto.
Already in the eleventh minute, Viktor Gyökeres gave the home team the lead after he tricked away former Real Madrid defender Pepe.
The 25-year-old Swede has now scored ten goals in 13 league games this season.
Pepe sent off
Gyökeres then headed in what looked to be 2–0, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
In the second half, the aforementioned Pepe was sent off after hitting an opposing player with his hand and Sporting were then able to extend their lead to 2–0.
Gyökeres assisted Pedro Goncalves who scored the final score of the game.
The victory means that Sporting top the Portuguese First League, three points ahead of third-placed Porto.
