The dream of a Swedish gold medal was shattered early in the semi-final against France – where it ended up being a big loss.

On the women's side, the only championship medals have come in the European Championships. In 2010, they lost in the final against Norway in Herning, where the bronze match was decided. At Euro 2014, the last championship medal, bronze, was won after victory against Montenegro. That time, Johanna Bundsen made a big play.

Now the national team gets the chance to win a new medal for the first time in nine years.

"That would have been fantastic, of course. It's going to be a fun game. We have a bit of revenge to take on ourselves, says Johanna Bundsen.

"Everyone dreams of finals and gold. We don't play that many medal matches. It's wonderful to have this opportunity. I don't think any of us won't be motivated to play an international match against Denmark, says head coach Tomas Axnér.

Emma Lindquist believes that a medal would have meant a lot to everyone in the squad.

"We had a goal when we gathered 27 days ago that we wanted to play for a medal and if we were to win a World Championship medal, we had the chance now.
