The Ministry of Emergency Situations warned residents of Kamchatka about the approach of a Pacific cyclone

Earlier, a leading specialist of the Phobos weather center said that cyclone Vanya brought 20% of the monthly precipitation to Moscow. The storm is expected to hit the region on December 18, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The cyclone, which is approaching the Kamchatka Territory from the Pacific Ocean, will come to the region on the night of December 18, said the press service of the Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Kamchatka Territory.


Employees of the department are on high alert until the end of the cyclone.

"In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsk, Yelizovsky and Ust-Bolsheretsky districts, as well as in the south of the Milkovsky district, heavy snow and blizzard are expected," the report said.

According to the ministry, wind speeds will reach 20 m/s, and in coastal areas of storm force of 30 m/s, on the southwest coast the wind can reach up to 35 m/s.

Earlier, Yevgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist of the Phobos weather center, said that cyclone Vanya brought 20% of the monthly precipitation to Moscow.
