According to investigators, on December 6, 2023, the suspect opened fire with a hunting rifle at police officers, fatally injuring one of them. The next day, the shooter was detained.
"On December 11, 2023, the court granted the petition of the investigator of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Ryazan Region to elect a preventive measure in the form of detention until February 5, 2024 for a suspect in an attempt on the life of a police officer," the press service of the regional Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported.
The report also notes that the investigation of the criminal case continues. The suspect will be charged in the near future.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia promised to provide assistance to the family of a law enforcement officer who died in the Ryazan region.
