He will meet with representatives of the Slovak authorities, "including Prime Minister Robert Fico," the State Department said. The official will also speak with the defense and foreign ministers, as well as the speaker of parliament to discuss "strengthening bilateral relations" and "continued support for Ukraine"

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien is heading to Slovakia to meet with Prime Minister Robert Fico.


"He will meet with representatives of the Slovak authorities, including Prime Minister Robert Fico," the State Department said.

The U.S. official will also speak with the defense and foreign ministers, as well as the speaker of parliament to discuss "strengthening bilateral relations" and "continued support for Ukraine."

Robert Fico previously met with the ambassadors of Russia and the United States. He noted that he explained to the representatives of the countries the priorities of Bratislava at the moment.

The Slovak prime minister also expressed his opinion on the Ukrainian conflict, where "the ongoing strategy of the EU and the United States clearly does not work."
