All restrictions on swine fever will be lifted from 30 November in Skinnskatteberg, Surahammar, Västerås, Sala, Smedjebacken and Avesta. The infected zone is reduced to only include Fagersta and Norberg.

This was revealed in today's press conference with the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

It has been almost three months since swine fever was discovered in Västmanland, but as of today, the Swedish Board of Agriculture is easing almost all restrictions outside the fenced core area.

"62 positive cases have been found in a very limited area. No wild boar has died by the end of September and the core area has been fenced off, says state epitozoologist Karl Ståhl at the National Veterinary Institute (SVA).

This means that the risk of the infection spreading further is now assessed as very low.
