The fire started around a stove pipe that stretches between two floors. Emergency services were alerted, but in the meantime staff at the hotel had tackled the fire with the help of several powder extinguishers. It had an effect.
"Three to four powder extinguishers were used when the personnel extinguished the fire," says Jonas Hägglund, officer in charge of the emergency services.
The emergency services went in with smoke divers and have broken up floors to see if there is any embers anywhere.
"There has been a fire in the joists around a stove pipe, so it's a limited area," says Jonas Hägglund.
At 16 p.m., internal officers at the emergency services stated that they expected to stay for another two hours.
No one was injured during the operation. The hotel was evacuated.
