On Monday, 301 ribbons were tied on the Västerport bridge in Kalmar. Each ribbon symbolizes a woman who reported that she had been subjected to violence in Kalmar municipality in 2022. "There are many women who do not report, the number of unreported cases is more than 80 per cent. We would have to fill the entire bridge with ribbons to reflect reality, says Carina Maxson from Kalmar Zonta Club.

Between 25 November and 10 December, demonstrations will be held all over the world to draw attention to violence against women – and on Monday, one was held in Kalmar. "Dare to see and dare to ask"

It is the women's rights organization Zonta that is responsible for the manifestation on the Västerport bridge in Kalmar. Together, they will tie 301 ribbons and a couple of information signs for wondering.

"Many people are not aware of the extent of violence against women. These women are all around us—and we may not even notice them. It could be a woman who constantly responds to text messages from her husband, a woman who can never go to after-work drinks, or always has to be picked up by her husband. Dare to see and dare to ask, says Carina Maxson, president of Kalmar Zonta Club.
