Traffic between Atocha and Recoletos, in Madrid, was interrupted this Sunday in both directions due to a multi-axle track departure of a Media Distancia train in the starting manoeuvre from Atocha to Chamartín, which has forced the evacuation of 37 people who were travelling inside.

Renfe sources have indicated to EFE that the incident occurred at the exit of the Atocha station, on a train bound for Chamartín that had departed from Almeria with 217 passengers, of which 37 were still inside the cars.

Those 37 passengers have been evacuated, thanks to the cars located with access to the platform, and none of them have been injured.

Renfe has also reported that the mobility of passengers will be guaranteed through the Sol tunnel, with a change in Nuevos Ministerios, once Long and Medium Distance and Cercanías trains to Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) and Guadalajara have been affected.
