The first ride from von Eckermann and his ten-year-old Calizi was both fast and flawless and took them to the jump-off where the combination had to fight for the victory with nine others.
"Oh how wonderful, how nice she jumped," says SVT's expert Lotta Björe.
In the jump-off it also went very fast for the combination, but it was a crash and then the chance of victory and podium disappeared.
German Marcus Ehning won the competition.
Season debut for the Swede
In Madrid, Angelie von Essen made her season debut in the World Cup together with Alcapone des Carmille. The combination tore on an obstacle and got a time fault. That was good enough for 22nd place.
"A really nice round. I think Alcapone is even better outdoors. It's a big horse with a big gallop and for that type of horse it's quite tight spaces here. But it looks good, it's great that they're up and running again," says Lotta Björe.
