Highlights: Sweden gets bigger – as Norway loses 500 square metres. A stream in Aremark, Norway, which marks the border with the neighbouring country, has chosen an easier route to flow. That gives Sweden about 500 square meters of extra land to call its own. A stream in Aremark, Norway, which marks the border with the neighbouring country, has chosen an easier route to flow. That gives Sweden about 500 square meters of extra land to call its own.

Every 25 years, the border map between Sweden and Norway is updated and now the Norwegian Border Commission has noted a new change for the countries' foreign ministries to approve.

"But with the help of aerial photographs and surveys of the terrain, we discovered that the stream had changed its course," Tor Erik Bakke from the Norwegian Border Commission told NRK.

The piece of land that will soon be included in the map of Sweden is located on the land of the Norwegian Ole Anker-Rasch.

"Nature goes its own way and it changes what Norway is and what Sweden is. It's not a big value, but still, says the landowner to NRK.
