European countries may start buying ammunition for Ukraine outside the association if they fail to cope with the promise to supply 1 million to Kyiv by March 2024, according to a Politico article, which cites a senior French diplomat.

According to him, at the moment, Europe has not failed the plan to transfer shells, but if this happens, the EU is ready to adjust and start purchases from other states.

It is indicated that the West, first of all, tries to take into account its own interests and encourage local manufacturers to increase the production of ammunition, but at the same time "they know how to be flexible in supporting Ukraine."
