Vladimir Olenchenko, a researcher at the Center for European Studies at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in an interview with RT, commented on the statement of retired General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Kryvonos that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhnyi, with the help of an article for The Economist magazine, appealed to the United States because of Zelensky's inaction.

The RT interlocutor noted that what Zaluzhny said for The Economist is interpreted by many as an admission of defeat.

"Accordingly, another question arises: 'Who will be responsible for this?' I think in order to get ahead of this issue, Zaluzhnyi proposes the candidacy of Zelensky. Either out of his own volition, or he was advised by the United States to name Zelensky as a responsible, roughly speaking, "scapegoat," Olenchenko said.

He is sure that there is a similar understanding in the administration of President Zelensky.

"Judging by their nervous reaction, they understand that Zelensky is being proposed as the figure who will be entrusted with all the responsibility... When we say Zelensky, we must also mean his team. They don't really want to act as the main responsible person," the political scientist added.

He also noted that Ukraine has indeed reached an impasse "in the broad sense of the word."

"Not only on the battlefield, but also in economic policy, in domestic policy, in relations with the opposition, in the suppression of dissent. And it seems that we can't go on, otherwise there will be some internal protests, I think. In order to prevent this, apparently, they are already deciding to change the team," Olenchenko explained.

In his opinion, with his statement, Zaluzhnyi showed "that he is not with Zelensky."

"The point is that the split is ripe, has become obvious and will certainly continue, having received a concrete expression," the RT interlocutor concluded.

Earlier, retired Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Kryvonos said that the article by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny for The Economist magazine is an appeal to the United States due to the inaction of Volodymyr Zelensky.
